The 2017/2018 Liberia Football Association FA Cup has reached the quarter-finals stage with ELWA United getting a “Bye” after seven teams advanced to the quarter-finals.
Six of the teams, ELWA United, Nimba United, Keitrace FC, FC Fassel, LISCR FC, and Monrovia Club Breweries are in the 1st division and Samira FC, the seventh, are from the 3rd Division.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Mountaineers of Nimba United advanced to the quarter-finals following their 3-2 aggregate win over 2nd division Holders FC.After a comfortable 2-0 win in the first leg, Coach Abraham Sese’s United did not perform up to expectation in the second leg, conceding a 2-1 defeat against their 2nd division opponent, but advanced to the next round with a 3-2 aggregate.
Also on Tuesday in the day’s last encounter, it was another frustrating moment for the Sunshine ‘Yellow Boy’s, Invincible Eleven, after they were booted out of the FA Cup by Keitrace FC on a 3-1 aggregate after a goalless first leg.
IE took the lead in the 40th minute after Augustus Tanyoun managed to slot home a dispossessed ball in Keitrace’s defense.The ‘Yellow Boys’ failed to defend their one goal and in the second half witnessed Keitrace scoring three goals in 30 minutes.
Keitrace pulled one back in the 57th minute through midfielder Jocee Yamba’s right-foot strike before Darlington Lynch doubled the score in the 82nd minute.Keitrace later finished things up in the 87th minute after striker Amadia Kawah closed the goal with a right foot volley.
