2019/2020 National County Sports Meet : Gbarpolu County football team set for Quarterfinal

The 2019/2020 National County Sports Meet continue to bring surprises and excitement to ardent fans. Liberia sports Online can confirm that there might be some shocks after Round 3 of matches, as some of the favorite including the defending champion might not make the ultimate trip to the biggest sports arena in Liberia.

It is clear that  Gbarpolu County football side sits on top of the table in Group D and will make the trip to SKD Sports Complex in Monrovia. Gbarpolu County football side has so far accumulated 6 points from two matches and is the only side to record two wins and one of two teams who clearly have qualified to the quarter-final. The wins maintained them at top of Group D with six points ahead of their final preliminary game against champions, Bomi County.

Our checks can also confirm that the last time Gbarpolu County won the prestigious event was in 2004, after a pulsating final match against Lofa County, with the final score of 2:1 in favor of Gbarpolu County.

Gbarpolu and Lofa County Football side become the first two counties football teams to qualify for the quarterfinals stage. It can be recalled that both counties Gbarpolu and Lofa counties were also among the last eight teams of the tournament during the previous edition.

With the last round of group matches set for this Saturday 11th January 2020 across match centers. Teams in the group include Bomi County, Grand Cape Mount County, and Montserrado County an all-time favorite Gbarpolu county football side made if after a 1-0 win against the host of Group D, Grand Cape Mount County, at the David Momoh Sports Pitch in Robertsport in their own backyard.

From the look of things, a win for either side will move them in the second position of the group as they await the result from the game between Gbarpolu and Bomi, hoping that Gbarpolu bag home all three points.
