Liberia’s senior national women football team held its first training at the Wusum Field in Makeni, Sierra Leone on Monday. All the players took part in the session, which was led by head coach Robert Lartey.
In all, a total of 33-persons from and the local football house and selected women football official made the trip to Sierra Leone. In a post on the official social media platform of the Liberia FA, Liberia Football Association (LFA) delegation, which left Monrovia on Sunday at 7:00 AM, arrived in Makena at 9:30 PM to take part in the maiden edition of the West African Football Union (Wafu Zone A) Nations Cup finals in Sierra Leone.
According to the FA, the tea is expected to hold two sessions on Tuesday, Liberia’s women national squad will have to use this match to fine-tune for ahead another major international assignment again upon their return. Despite a good venture, many local soccer lovers are worried about injury to players.
The delegation is headed by Blanco FC President Cyrus Yenay and includes LFA videographer and photographer James Sillah and women’s football desk officer Aletha Massaquoi; Professional Sisters President Lamin Kiadii, Determine Girls secretary-general Formorlu Fatomah, chauffeur Dauda Dorley, and conductor Benedict Sieh , others are head coach Robert Lartey, deputy coach Famatta Dean, goalkeeping coach Jerry Bing, administrative manager Gayduo Princess Kennedy, medic Edith Kerwillian and kitman and caretaker Prince Teah.
Liberia will play Guinea Bissau on 26 February at 4:30 PM, Mali on 28 February at 2:00 PM and the Gambia on 2 March at 4:00PM respectively in Group B.
