The Fifa badge Liberian referee Hassan Zinnah Corneh will officiate the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match between Niger and Ethiopia.The Liberian central referee will be among top match officials in Africa that will take charge of qualifiers in the 2021 Africa Cup Nations.
The match will be played at the Stade Général in Niamey on 13 November. The game will be Corneh’s first at the top level,though he has officiated in the CAF Champions League and others youth competitions.
Corneh will be assisted by compatriots Sekou Kanneh and Joel Wonka Wonka Doe.George Rogers will served as fourth official,while Burkina Faso’s Yameogo Koudougou David will be the match commissioner.
The third and fourth round of matches for the 2021 Afcon were slated for March before the coronavirus pandemic forced the postponement.The games will now take place between November 9-17 while the final two matches will be held between March 22-30 in 2021.
On June 30, the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations was supposed to be hosted by Cameroon and was moved to January 2022 and will end in February – a year later than the initial date, after Covid-19 disrupted the global football calendar.
In a related development, Referee Corneh has been selected along with assistant referee Sekou Kanneh for the 2020 WAFU U-20 Championship.The tournament will kick off on 20 November in Dakar, Senegal.
