34 men delegation lands in Dakar for crucial CHAN match

Monrovia : A 34 man delegation left Liberia yesterday 31st July , to Dakar, Senegal  to honor a CAF –CHAN match despite initial aircraft issues . Senegal will take on Liberia at the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium in Dakar at 17:00GMT on Saturday, August 3.

Liberiasportsonline can confirm that the team has landed in Dakar, and currently preparation for the encounter. The local based national team was due to depart the country for Senegal to honor their second-leg African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier following their 1-0 win, on Sunday, July 28.

The delegation was headed by LFA Executive Committee member Henry Boyd Flomo ,with  Deputy Sports Minister Audrian Smith-Forbes, Assistant Sports Minister James Toe, NPA Sports Association President Austin Dennis, FIFA-badged referee Hassan Corneh and LFA Communications Director Danesius Marteh concluding the list of top official on the trip.

According to our credible source at the Liberian FA , Administrative manager Sebastian Collins left for Dakar after Liberia’s Lonestar victory on Sunday, recording a 1-0 defeat to secure an ideal accommodation and other match-related activities.Liberia’s national team departure from the Roberts International Airport to Dakar, Senegal was delayed for over 12 hours.

Speaking to Liberiasportsonline in a social media chat with him from the RIA, Marteh said “we still here ” where is the team going , we are off to honor the 2nd leg of the CHAN ” they are saying the plan has fault ,he revealed .  But closed source on the trip said the players and technical staff were upset about the situation .

The Team was stranded at the new terminal of the Roberts International Airport  for over 12  hrs before a new flight was arrange for their departure to from Liberia to Senegal. Which has a psychological effect on sports players. According to unconfirmed source ,it was attributed to  a “mechanical faults”.

The team is made up of head coach Thomas Kojo, deputy coach Samuel Chebli, trainer George Gebro, goalkeeping coach Eric Glassco, physiotherapist Boakai Abu Kamara, masseur Sampson Zoegbeh and kitmen Tommy Johnson and Daniel Hodge.

Late inclusion defender Prince Jetoh of defunct Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) who ,is well equipped to step in to  replace LISCR FC defender Dirkir Glay, who got injured in the first leg.
