BREAKING NEWS: William Jebor signs for Al-Nassr Saudi Club

Liberia’s international player William Jebor has enter the news with his switch to another club in the gulf region contrary to speculations that he was heading for the English premier league . The hopes of many Liberia has been dash as this young and promising star continue to stay in leagues that many Liberian can not watch him play.

Jebor,pen a 3 years deal, according to the Clubs official social media page , in the early period of July 8th ,2017 ,the fans and management of Al-Nassr Saudi Club are excited to have him in their club.The contract signed took effect from  from July 9 ,2017 and it will last up to  June 30,2020.But Jebor has a market value of 255 K.

Al-Nassr is one of the most popular clubs in Saudi Arabia, with a combined total of 42 national, regional and friendly championships to its name.

The amount involve was not disclose but he will spend the  next 3 years playing in Saudi Arabia for Al-Nassr, despite been among the top 10 best strikers in the World currently , Liberians will still have to wait to see their super striker play in a top league in Europe .

It can be recalled that William Jebor  left Portugal based top flight outfit, Rio Ave for Spanish second division outfit, SD Ponferradina on a season loan. Jebor, who scored Liberia’s lone goal in the 2-1 defeat at the hand of the Sparrow Hawks of Togo last June in the 2017 Nations Cup qualifier, was handed the club’s number seven jersey for the 2015/2016 season.

Jebor, who have moved to Spain in search of playing time, was the top scorer of the Egyptian Premier League season (2012-13) playing for El-Geish before its being cancelled. He scored 10 goals in 9 matches. Due to the cancellation of the Egyptian Premier League, Jebor moved to Libya and featured in the top flight with Ahli Tripoli where he made life uneasy for opposing players in that part of the world. He was instrumental in WAC , success in Morocco until his departure to Al-Massr. Now it put to rest the rumours that  Premier League, side Stoke City are trying to find talent in more obscure places these days, focusing on the southern continent rather than Europe.

 Following the somewhat successful acquisition of young Egyptian winger Ramadan Sobhi from El Ahly Cairo last summer, the Potters have continued to scout the north African leagues, only to discover William Jebor.

His current side is  Wydad Athletic Club Casablanca, the Liberia international has scored 17 goals in 25 appearances this season, and is also attracting interest from the Middle-East and China.Lille are said to have already made an offer for Jebor, whose contract with WAC ended in June 2017 .But , it’s worth pointing out his last two attempts to make it in Europe didn’t exactly go to plan: two goals in 25 appearances with second-tier Spanish side Ponferradina and one goal in 25 appearances with Rio Ave FC.

The club have won 8 Premier League titles, 8 Riyadh Region League titles.This achievement landed Al-Nassr a spot in the first FIFA Club World  Cup where it won the Fair Play award,thus, making Al-Nassr the first club from Asia to play on an international level. Winning the Asian Super Cup in 1998 allowed Al-Nassr to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup. In doing so, they became the first team to officially represent Asia in an international which was held in Brazil from 5 January till 14 January, in the year 2000.

Last season’s third-place finish earned them qualification for the forthcoming AFC Champions League, a competition in which they finally hope to claim some silverware for their long-suffering fans.
