As BYC Incorporated reset its programs for progress.
Monrovia-Montserrado- July 17 ,2019 : The President of Barrack Young Controllers Incorporated has confirmed reports from Liberia Sports Online that the club has been dissolved to reset the organization’s programs. Both BYC-1 and 2 have been the most successful clubs in contemporary Liberian football winning approximately 18 trophies over the last ten years including 4 times 1st division championships (2013,2014, 2016, 2018) , 5 times 2nd division crowns ( 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2019), 3 time the LFA Super Cup (2010, 2013, 2015), FA Cups and Knockout titles amongst others.
The 1st Division side was also the 1st to break a 25 years record of Liberian not making it to the group stage of the CAF championships league after the club under managerial ship of Robert Lartey beat Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium to advance to the next round. But life is becoming unbearable for the club based on the huge financial burdens and little impact the organization has made international in recent years.
Speaking to Liberia Sports Online on Wednesday, BYC incorporated president, Nathaniel Sherman revealed that BYC-1 has been dissolved and will not form part of next year’s campaign. Mr. Sherman who is the former goalie of the BYC-1 and National team said the organization is redirecting investment due to the little impact on the international scene. “We have been very successful locally but it is also prudent for us to acknowledged that we have failed internationally,” he stated in a telephone interview.
“It might be very difficult and expensive but we have to start all over in an effort to change the game for the better,” he argued. He unveiled that the new reform agenda will be retained BYC-2 in the 2nd division for almost two years before seeking promotion to the 1st division category. While some good players of BYC-1 between the ages of 17-20 years will be demoted to the 2nd division side to beef up their strength, some contract will be negotiated and others will be released for the market.
The BYC Incorporated president added that already, the organization has bought 3rd division side Ambassador FC, an amount he declined to unveil adding that the club will be used as a recruitment ground for the news programs. Sherman also revealed that the vacuum created in the 1st division has been turned over the Liberia football Association to decide which club fills the void as the club does not intend selling it. “Our target for the new agenda is to make international breaks but we also want to build a talent hub to develop a new generation of professionals an effort to arrest the ongoing continuous recycling of old players,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Barrack Young Controllers nicknamed the Blues, was founded 1997 and currently chair by the son of former Liberian female president, Robert Sirleaf.
