The local league over the seasons has provided a unique platform for many young talents and their exploits have breathed live into the quality of the game of football in Liberia . One of such player is Sam Kollie, despite a dreadful past and nerve rocking experience on the pitch , his dream to make a difference continue to push him , but his time with his current club has come to an abrupt end during this tough time of the COVID 19 according to his current club ,LISCR FC .
Kollie, has been released by 1st Division side, LISCR FC after the expiration of his contract this June 2020. The club’s official social media page has confirmed this news; a post cited on the page dated 10th June, 2020 .
It can be recalled that LISCR FC on 26th Feb.2018 confirmed on the club’s official social media page(facebook). “We can confirm the signing of Liberia internationals, Sam Kollie and Prince Saydee. The former FC Fassell striker and BYC FC forward joined the Shipping Boys on a three-year deal each. #WelcomeSam #WelcomePrince #TogetherStronger #ThisIsLiscrFC”
Kollie joined LISCR FC on a three-year deal but found the going tough at the club. The striker scored a couple of goals for the Shipping Boys but failed to cement his position in the team. Kollie, before joining LISCR FC had a disappointing season 2017/2018 with his former club Fassell throughout the season but was hoping to recover and play his best for LISCR FC . The striker was among several young players whose ambition of lifting the 1st division title with FC Fassell last season was dashed after the club was found guilty of fielding ineligible players.
Kollie featured against LISCR in the quarter-finals of last season’s FA Cup where he scored the opening goal. He struck from about 23 yards for the opener before LISCR overturned the scores 2-1 and advanced to the semis on a 3-2 aggregate. LISCR FC however, thanked Kollie for his many contributions to the club and wished him all the very best.
