FIFA U17WWC: Liberia U 17 team was subjected to a thought lesson in women football in Accra when the Black maidens of Ghana put pass them a whopping 8 goals to end a dream of U-17 World Cup place.

Ghana’s Black Maidens dismantled the young Liberian women team with 10-goals in total aggregate win to qualify for the next round of the 2020 FIFA U17 World Cup Qualifiers.Ophelia Osei Amponsah was in a prolific style and form as she unleashed the first goals of the afternoon under two minutes, added a second in the 3rd minute before Salamatu Abdulai made it 3 goals in the 4th minute of the match with the Liberian goalie effort not enough to stop the shot.
Player Amponsah registered her third and fourth goals in the 12th and 14th in minutes to increase her goals in the qualifier. In the 27th minutes of the second half, Midfielder Elizabeth Oppong drove in a spectacular long range shot to make it six for the Ghana team. In the 64th minute, substitute Alice Sarpong was brought down in by a frustrated Liberia defense resulting in a penalty which she converted to make it 7-0 before Tracy Twum added the match-winner in the 66th minute.
It can be recalled that the first leg encounter in Monrovia at the ATS, The Ghanaian team recorded a 2-0 victory over the U 17 national woman Lonestars and the Black Maidens will next face-off with the Flamingos of Nigeria in the next round of matches.
Their Nigerian counterparts, the Flamingos thumped Guinea 5-1 at the Agege Sports Stadium to qualify 11-2 on aggregate, and set up a date with Ghana. The first leg will be played in the first week of May in Accra barring any changes. The winner of the two legged game will qualify for the tournament in India next year.
On Saturday, striker Ophelia Osei Amponsah bagged four goals with Salamatu Abdulai netting a brace. Elizabeth Oppong, Alice Sarpong and Tracy Twum were the other scorers on the day.Ghana is the only African country to qualify to all FIFA U-17 women’s world cup.
