Monrovia,-The former Barrack Young Controller (BYC) Technical Director secured a draw in his first match on Sunday 22nd July,2018 as a caretaker coach, but has strongly expressed his interest in maintaining the top job.
Stand-in Lone Star Coach Thomas Kojo said he wants the job permanently basis after he guided the country to an entertaining nil-nil draw against Sierra Leone at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Complex in Paynesville.
The match was a special Independence Day friendly.“I will be happy if given the chance to maintain the job. You know every coach will be delighted to coach the National Team,” he said. Kojo also disclosed that he hopes to build a young team that can compete in any competition if given the chance to stay on as Head Coach.“We want to build a young team that can play for two hours, a young team that can compete to the highest level so that is my intention,” he added.
Kojo, who expressed delight in the performance of his squad, said Liberian players have the quality to make the difference, but believe this can only be done with huge investment.“We started training on Monday, but I was impressed, because tactically everything that we did in the training the players were able to execute them. This shows that we have lot of talents in Liberia,” Kojo said.
