L$234,000 at Stake in Montserrado Community League playoffs

The Liberia Football Association has announced the prize money for the winner and runners-up in the Montserrado Sub Association Community League playoffs.
A release from the LFA said the league which kicks off on Friday, December 21, 2018 at several venues across Montserrado County will have a total in prize money of Two Hundred and Thirty Four Thousand Liberian Dollars (L$234,000.00).

The LFA release disclosed the winner will pocket One Hundred and Fifty six Thousand Liberian Dollars (L$156,000.00) while the runners-up walk away with Seventy Eight Thousand Liberian Dollars (L$78,000.00). 30 teams will be featuring in the playoffs from ten sub -committees in Montserrado and registration fee is free. The LFA release disclosed the plays off will be played at four venues across the county and the venues are Tusa Field (Gardnersville), ETMI (Caldwell), Antoinette Tubman Stadium (Central Monrovia) and St.Paul Field (Virginia).

Meanwhile, the President of the LFA, Mustapha I.Raji has made cash contribution of Three Hundred Thousand Liberian Dollars (L$300,000.00) to the Chairman of the Montserrado Sub Association Sando Fahnbulleh .The amount is to cover the full registration of the 30 participating teams in the community league play offs.

In a related development ,The Liberia Football Association has with immediate effect recalled Referee J.Francis Smith from the ongoing National County Meet taking place in Nimba County.

A release from the LFA says Referee Smith unjustly awarded a goal to Gbarpolu County in their Group Match against Montserrado County on December 16, 2018 at the Sanniquille stadium.The LFA release said Referee Smith ignored the decision of his Assistant # 1 (Kayee Gray) and awarded what was a clear offside goal to Gbarpolu County.
The release quoting the Match Commissioner report said the Referee unjustifiably over ruled his first assistant for a clear offside before the first 3rd minute in the match. The error on the part of the referee caused the match to end 2-1 in favor of Gbarpolu against Montserrado County.

Meanwhile, the LFA said it has policed the situation by immediately recalling the Referee Smith from the County Meet pending an investigation by the Referee Standing Committee and the Liberia Football Referee Association.The LFA assures that further action could be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
