The Liberian is now one of the most successful players in the Absa Premiership history having now won the trophy for the fifth time.Former Lone Star Captain Anthony Laffor has won his fifth Absa Premiership title following Mamelodi Sundowns   3-1 win over rival Ajax Cape Town on Saturday at the Lucas Moripe. But Mamelodi secured their 8th South African Premier Soccer League title after coming from behind to  win .

Sundowns needed to beat Ajax Cape Town FC and hope that result between second placed side Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City FC goes in their favour.Coach Pitso Mosimane’s side fell behind to a Mosa Lebusa’s 2nd minute strike before Khama Billiat pulled parity in the 12th minute.Further goals from Ricardo Nascimento and Sibusiso Vilakazi ensured the Brazilians clinch their 8th top flight league title in front of their boisterous home fans. Laffor is now one five players of Sundowns to have won the cup more than four times. The former LISCR FC attacker won the  double with SuperSport in 2008/2009 and 2009/2010  , before going on to win the 2013/2014 and 2015/2016 league titles with Sundowns.

The Brazilians came from behind to record a 3-1 win over Ajax Cape Town this weekend at the  Lucas Moripe Stadium to clinch the top-flight crown with one game left in the season. The success marked Sundowns’ eighth Absa Premiership title and a club record third under Pitso Mosimane.

Although Laffor was not a regular starter in this season team, but he is a player that the South African giant would never want to let go.He also suffered series of injuries which limited his game time this season.

Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana and goalkeeper Denis Onyango   are also   among the list that matched former teammate Andre Arendse’s achievement of five Absa Premiership titles on Saturday. If Sundowns beat Maritzburg United away on Wednesday night‚ they will effectively be crowned champions for the third time in five years because of their vastly superior goal difference over second-placed Orlando Pirates.
