Monrovia: In the wake of progress for football in Liberia, the local football house has placed a halt to the ongoing national league to make way for the national county sports meet, a local sports festival for national unity and peace.
In a communicated in possession of Liberiasportsonline, the FA has made it know that The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has suspended matches in the 2019/2020 Orange national league from 4-12 January.
In a memo to all clubs on Thursday, LFA Secretary General Isaac Montgomery said the decision follows many appeals from clubs ahead of the national county sports meet (NCSM), which kicks-off on Saturday. Montgomery also made it know that the LFA is cognizant of the national nature of the NCSM and the existing cordiality between it and the sports ministry, which organizes the tournament.
Legal and competitions director Benedict Yarsiah has been mandated to resume
The league will resume on 14 January 220 and appropriately all rescheduled or suspended matches. will be played according to the FA release with matches being played twice weekly to meet-up with the timetable.
