The Liberia Football Association (LFA)’s attention has been drawn to a rape allegation, which has gone viral on social media.
The LFA condemns the allegation, which involved two female players and is said to have occurred in December 2019.
We are cognizant that rape is a felonious and non-bailable offense. The LFA call on all parties, including the clubs,
family members, media, friends, and anyone with information, to submit all documentary and oral evidence to Liberia
National Police in order to administer justice. This was contained in a statement on the official Liberia FA social media platform.
Minister for Youth and Sports Zoegar Wilson, in an online chatroom, the comment said “Hey folks, this is a very sensitive matter that the LFA has
brought it to our attention and we have requested the Ministry of Gender to handle this since it pertains to gender matters and
provide us their findings. I will kindly advise that we allow this process to take its course until we hear from the Ministry of Gender.
Some stakeholder in the football took a swipe at the Liberia FA on the pace of reaction toward the allegation, industry is of the view that “The LFA sat on this serious issue since December 2019, only to come out with a condemnation.if it was somebody the FA is against it was going to be the first thing in the headlines.”
