Two goals from skillful and prolific players Mitis Mulbah were enough to see many pundits rewrite their scripts, in a mid-week of 16th January 2020 crucial league match between LISCR FC and Monrovia Club Breweries at the ATS in Central Monrovia.
The ongoing Liberia FA, national 1st Division League got a kick start after some days of postponement due to the 2019/2020 National County Sports Meet matches across the county and international FIFA women match. Evergreen mixed talents side club Monrovia Club Breweries during their week fixture of the ongoing Liberia Football Association recorded a painful 2-1 victory over LISCR FC at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).
Player Mitis Mulbah scored two well-deserved goals in each half of the week’s top match of the day. It was a perfect win for Breweries as they took LISCR by surprise with a defensive tactic. After taking an early lead, they were reduced to 10 men when Raymond Fanciah was shown a red card midway through the first half but maintained their defensive posture to end the first half 1-0 in their favor. Club Breweries’ captain Marvin Blapoh and Festus Blapoh, put up a perfect combination to cover more distances in the match of the day.
Coach Tapha Manneh made two substitutions at the start of the second period, despite it was a tactical one, from the result it had less impact on the match . Player Armah Vaikainah and Curtis Koon were introduced, for Aaron Sargbah and Edward, Selebah hoping they will inject some pace and control for LISCR FC. A few minutes after a team play resulted to Marlon Harrison’s missed a good opportunity hit the crossbar, and a follow-up shot by midfielder Sekou Sheriff’s with a free-kick saved by in-form goalie back home, Abdoulaye Koulibaly.
With intense pressure from LISCR, Club Breweries defensive was up to the task to stop the striking force from LISCR FC . It was a great counter-attack from Club Breweries that resulted in a beautiful placement by player Mulbah to complete his brace.
Former PAGS FC layer Striker Mark Karley got LISCR FC only goal in the match, after coming from the bench in the second half. The defeat for LISCR has dropped them down to the fourth position on the league table after a few weeks spent at top of the table before the National County Sports Meet break. Club Breweries now has three points.
