One of Liberia’s leading political figure and sports enthusiast has added his weight behind his county to show strength as they prepare for the 2019/2020 National County Sports Meet .ahead of the 2019/2020 National County Sports meet, the County’s Sports Steering Committee.
The Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Tamba Koijee , making the donation ,Mayor Koijee presented four sets of jerseys, more than thirty pair of booths, thirty suits, thirty-five footballs, dozens of camp wears, dozens of training kits among others as an initial contribution to the county kickball and football teams. His donation is coming at a point when Lofa County search for support has attracted my platform with low response. The items is estimated to be worth more than five thousand United States dollar ($5000,000 usd) . Receiving the donation Chairman Momo Cyrus of the Lofa County Sports Steering Committee , Mr. Cyrus said the gesture was a huge morale for the county teams and has ignited the spirit.
Presenting the materials, Mayor Koijee said his donation is in no way a sign of showing off, but to give the support the county needs to win the upcoming national County meet. The Monrovia City Mayor, a son of Lofa County said the county with some of the best brains that have impacted the country, cannot always be mere participant and cannot lift the trophy in the National County Meet. He said every Lofians need to consider winning this year’s edition of the national county meet as a key priority, as such they must mobilize each other to give the county the support it needs.
Mayor Koijee said it’s unfair for Lofa County to always play in the finals and fail to lift the trophy. He said this year should be the end of the long years of wait for a Lofa County Championship. He said he will support the Lofa County Sports Steering Committee in ensuring that the county ends its trophy drought this season.He said should Lofa win this year’s county meet, he will spearhead a stadium construction project in the county.
