Musa Bility’s ‘good man’ Kwesi Nyantakyi resigns as Ghana FA President

African Leaders must know when to leave power? An individual with so much power can move from a hero to zero in a sport that made him so powerful. That is the case of Kwesi Nyantakyi . Nyantakyi was instrumental in the overthrow of Issa Hayatou as President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) alongside Musa Bility .

He alone was on the FIFA Executive Council -served on the powerful FIFA Executive Council, was CAF First Vice President, and WAFU Zone B President and Ghana FA President ,as well as recently chairman of the ad hoc committee that organized the 2017 CAF Awards some months ago in Accra.

Local though-talking Musa Bility , Liberia FA president commitment to his fraternal brother was dealt a blow when a video documentary of expose of ace investigative journalist, Anas. Nyantakyi was in a conversation that has implicated him to corruption and bribery . He Nyantakyi has been quoted in several media as a fighter of corruption ,so this issue has come as a serious shock to the entire Ghana and the football world. He served close to 13 years in power as president of Ghana FA and resigned by forced on June 8,2018 .

Liberia FA president and CAF executive committee member, Musa Bility, doubt that the allegations against his Ghanaian . Bility, himself has been overwhelmed by corruption allegations after FIFA audit has question some transactions at the Liberia FA in recent time, was sure that Nyantakyi will be exonerated of the fraudulent charges leveled against him.

Bility said his colleague is a man of integrity and will survive the charges. “Kwesi Nyantakyi is a good man. His credibility and integrity are undoubted and everyone at CAF is very confident he will come out clean,” Beach FM, a Ghanaian station quoted Bility as saying.

“I’m not surprised with the current situation Kwesi Nyantakyi finds himself in his country. This is because allegations of bribery and corruption against Football Association presidents as well as their involvement in governmental manipulations are gradually becoming normal practices in Africa.

“Many people believe football administrators are corrupt but that’s not the case. Nyantakyi shouldn’t be defined by this current
predicament alone since we believe he will be free soon. He has a lot of good to still offer African football,” he added.

A day after Bility’s interview, the Ghanaian government found substantial evidence to charge the 49-year-old Nyantakyi with
“defrauding under false pretenses” on orders of Ghana President Akufo-Addo.

Among those caught on camera was Kenyan referee Adel Range Marwa, who was bound for the World Cup in Russia until he resigned
after he was filmed receiving a $600 “gift.”

Meanwhile the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced on Monday 11 June ,2018 ,that it will hold an Extraordinary Congress on September 30 to replace disgraced former Ghana Football Association boss Kwesi Nyantakyi on the FIFA Executive Council after he resigned from all his positions at FIFA, CAF, WAFU and GFA following investigations by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas. CAF President Ahmad Ahmad made the announcement at the on-going FIFA Congress in Moscow where the voting to select a world cup host for 2026 will be decided on Wednesday.

Liberiasportsonline.com can reliably say , Musa Bility while on his way to Russia ,stopped-over in Ghana to sympathize with  his ‘good man’ Kwasi Nyantakyi, ahead of his destination to Moscow to vote for USA as he disclosed before leaving.

Nyantakyi, 49, has been banned for 90 days after he was caught on tape accepting cash gifts from a potential investor.The Wa All Stars Executive . CAF President Ahmad Ahmad made the announcement at the on-going FIFA Congress in Moscow where the voting to select a world cup host for 2026 will be decided on Wednesday.
