The Mountaineers settled to a nil-nil draw against LPRC Oilers on Sunday and are desperate to keep their title ambition alive when they host relegation bound ELWA United this Sunday June 18,2017 .
Nimba United hope to bounce back to winning ways when they welcome ELWA United on Sunday at their Northstar Stadium, in Mount Barclay.The Mountaineers are pegged at 5th position on the league table with 29 points from 17 games and needs to collect the maximum points from this game if their are to maintain their contention for the title of the league ,despite ELWA anxiety to for survival.
They are also unbeaten in the second phase of the league.The Mount Barclay supported Club may be without key strikers Mustapha Lomell and Bill Leonardo Hiah as well as defender Phil Kawee all of whom are sidelined by injury.
Lomell has netted times this season in the league while Leonardo who was signed in mid-season has been a major contributor.
Defender Prince Wilson who missed Sunday paring against LPRC Oilers due to card suspension is also expected to be out of the squad. Right-back Edward Dean and Goalkeeper Emmanuel Deanneh who are participating in the Anderlecht scouting course at the George Weah Technical Center will also feature in the squad.
However, midfielder Darlington Suwo is optimistic they can come out with a positive result against ELWA.
“We are aware it will be a tough match against ELWA on Sunday, but we have to secure a win to keep in the title race. ELWA are struggling but they cannot be underrated.They defeated us at this same stage last season and as such we must be vigorous, we have to make use of every opportunity,” the midfielder said.
The Mountaineers bought two of ELWA’s key players this season in Micah Looh and Roberto Anderson both of whom are playing key role in Abraham Sese’s squad this second phase of the league.
