One of the upcoming local team that continue to present a professional front in their day-to0-day administration is , which from the look of things has made significant impact on their presentation in the league .
They have gone through cruel times in the league but are still determine to make an impact in the Liberia FA league , they are set to lose most of their players to te upcoming national county sports meet but Samira FC Chief Executive Officer Elvis Sirleaf believes they still have a chance to qualify for the 2nd Division.
Expressing his optimism yesterday in an interview he said, several players from his club have traveled to the various counties to justify for the upcoming National County Sports Meet which has disrupted his team’s plan.“We have replacements for them, but losing some of our key players that way has created a gap in the team.”
Samira FC, known as the ‘Scoring Scorpions were last week paired in Group C with Bassam Almighty (Nimba), Sandi FC (Margibi) and Young Vision FC (Bong).
In August, Samira FC along with Jr Barcelona, Freeport FC, and Page FC qualified for the national playoffs from Zone 1 in Bomi County.
The playoff matches that were postponed due to the electoral process will this weekend kickoff at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.According to Mr. Sirleaf, the resumption of the league is “belated,” but they will work with the LFA.
“Sadly, we who are promoting grassroots football don’t have any say in how the FA is guided or run. Ninety percent of the players who play for County Meet is from our league.“Now some of them are pressed for time and have to go out. This will leave a hole in our teams,” he said.
Despite these challenges, CEO Sirleaf is still confident. “We have a chance and we intend to take it. We look forward to fair play and we can get there. We have been a force in Liberian football and we take pride in that, so we are keeping in mind that we need to deliver.”
