The quest for the two traditional team of Liberia to return to best form to also ensure that fans return to them and follow their games is important .
One Club has fell casualty of the realistic move as fans have several times call for the removal of the current president.But this will no more need as the President of Liberia’s Oldest Football Invincible Eleven IE, Samuel Wlue has tendered in his resignation as President of the Invincible Eleven Majestic Sports Association.
Mr. Wlue resigned few days ago citing “busy schedule” as key reason for his resignation from the Association.
Samuel Wlue was appointed President of IE last September by the Board of Directors following the resignation of than president, Sam Gibson. Mr. Wlue, Liberia’s Transport Minister found difficulties in meeting with the football squad for the eight months he had been in charge of the darling club, saying often he’s busy.
He became President of the Club while serving as Managing Director for the National Housing Authority, an entity of government, before he became Transport Minister. Under him, the IE basketball team returned to the National basketball league for the first time in ten years, but underperformed in their first season.
The Yellow boys had not felt the presence of a president since Dr. Richard Tolbert days.Samuel Wlue’s “habitual” absence from IE league matches created doubts among fans, with some debating that “Mr. Wlue was not an IE fan”, as such he had no passion for the team.IE players often said they did not know their president in person.For the football team, they have had the worst nightmare in their history as they have gone more than half the season without scoring two wins, but can only manage to stay at the bottom of the league table.
Meanwhile, the Board of IE has appointed Vice President for International Affairs, who is a former player of the Yellow Boys, Seku Keita as Acting President until the Majestic goes to elections anytime soon. Mr. Keita had been in Liberia helping Mr. Wlue in running the IE Majestic Sports Association. According to report, he has had interest in the IE Presidency while oversea.
Mr. Seku Keita has been given the task to ensure the Association goes to election soon.At the same time, the Invincible Eleven Majestic Sports Association Board has setup a Six-man Ad-hoc Election Committee to organize election before the next league season. Those appointed on the ad-hoc election committee are Martin George, Charles Allen (former LWSC MD), Macketta Gurley, Elizabeth Banenan and J.B. Konowah.
