Liberia international Seku Conneh has joined Serbian club FK Vojvodina from South Korea second division club Ansan Greeners.Conneh has signed a deal until January 2021 following a month-long trial.
Born in Liberia and raised in the Netherlands, Conneh began his youth career across several development academies and youth clubs, including Ajax and Almere City.Conneh started his senior career with Fortuna Sittard and TOP Oss in the Eerste Divisie (second division) for a season each, scoring 11 goals from 45 appearances.
The 23-year-old later joined Bethlehem Steel ahead of the 2016 season but managed two goals from 18 appearances due to injury.Conneh joined Ansan on 5 January 2018 following his release by Bethlehem on 2 November 2017, scoring 12 goals from 43 appearances.
In South Korea, Conneh played 27 games last season and scored two goals.Conneh and teammates began a two-week pre-season camp in Belek, Turkey on 25 January ahead of the second half of the season.After nearly nine and a half hours of travel, taking into account the time they left from Belgrade to Istanbul, and then from Istanbul to Antalya, from where they were transported by bus to Belek.
They will stay in hotel “Titanic Deluxe Golf Belek”, which offers fantastic conditions for training.Conneh will hope to make his debut in the Super Liga away to defending champions Red Star Belgrade on 16 February.He will hope to integrate into a team with Nigeria’s Eze Okeuhie as the only other African.Vojvodina are eighth on the 16-team table with 28 points from 21 games.
Conneh made his debut for Liberia in a 2-1 defeat away to Togo in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on 14 June 2015.He won the last of his four caps in a 1-1 draw with DR Congo in Monrovia in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on 9 September 2018.
