Story by Peterking Quaye :It took a 25th minute goal from former BYC 1 and local league MVP , Kevin Potis to seal a record victory and a ticket to the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU Competition for Liberia ,at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies, Senegal.
Liberia by this win will progress to the semi-finals of the WAFU Nations Cup Plate competition after a 1-0 victory over Niger Kelvin Potis’ lone goal in the 24th minute became the ultimate decider as the Lonestar,the Plate Competition comprises teams that lost in phase-one knockout round of the 16 nations tournament. Also his impressive play in the match ,with dexterous touch and goal mouth action ,Kevin Potis , did not only find victory for Liberia , he also picked-up the Man of the Match award for the match .
Liberia will now face Guinea in the semi-finals of the Plate Competition on October 9, 2019.An impressive performance will be the only requirement for the Liberian team ,as the tournament loss the host Senegal , Nigeria and Ivory Coast .
Niger missed a good chance on the match on the 7th minute, but goalie Alpha Jalloh of dissolved BYC 1 was on point to guard the ball to safety and .Despite his slow tactical efforts ,Coach Robert Lartey ,it was three changes made to the team after his first defeat at the hands of Sierra Leone by introducing Benjamin Doe and Varney Sando in the midfield and Josephus Mantor in the center defense.
